macOS : Dell Display Manager is consuming lots of CPU ressources

By | July 24, 2025

Dell Display Manager (or DDM) is a nice to have if you have Dell monitors, and unavoidable if you have the 43 inch monitor with the built-in KVM.

Sadly, I noticed major slow down and high CPU consumption on my Mac M1 Pro since the beginning of the year.  Looking at the Activity Monitor (or “top” command), we can see the DDPM.app process consuming half of the CPU ressources – this is so bad for such a simple app that should consume near zero ressources.

The DDM version I had installed is  v2.0.0.0015 which was released on February 20th 2025.

A newer, v2.0.0.0018, released on April 3rd 2025 is solving that issue.  Just get the latest available from Dell Support Web site, close the currently running DDM application and install the newer version.
