Storage : How to reset a HP P2000 MSA G3 SAN to factory default

By | October 30, 2015

Here is the command to reset a HP P2000 MSA G3 SAN to factory default. You need to have “manage” user privileges to execute it.

restore defaults factory

The output will look like this :

# restore defaults factory

FACTORY DEFAULTS: WARNING! ALL configuration for this array controller will be ERASED. This is intended for engineer use only. The Management Controller will restart once this is completed. Are you sure? yes
Waiting for the other Management Controller to restore defaults ...

Just type "yes" when asked after issuing the command to proceed, it may take a few minutes for the controller to reset and restart.

This will reset the controller (or both if your unit is populated with two SPAs) but the data on array(s) you may have should remain intact. However always work with backups if you intent to do that while preserving the data on the disks.
